About the Opportunity
The Technical Data Manager oversees the development and governance of Technical Data programs across strategic shipbuilding activities. The role defines and maintains the enterprise technical data policies, aligning intellectual property/data-rights policies, and lifecycle objectives to support installation, operation, maintenance, supply support, training and configuration management. The Technical Data Manager is accountable to the Strategic Shipbuilding IPS Manager and is supported within each shipbuilding program by a Technical Data Lead, IPS practitioners and CM specialists.

What’s Involved
- Develop and maintain the enterprise Technical Data Strategy.
- Standardise data requirements, governance and integrated data environments across programs
- Coordinate data rights acquisition and IP licensing.
- Integrate Technical Data across IPS elements and lifecycle phases.
- Oversee quality assurance and validation of technical data deliverables.
- Enable data-driven decisions across IPS.
- Support digital transformation and data integration initiatives.
- Assure compliance with DAU/DoD guidance and Australian standards.
- Coordinate program Technical Data Leads and suppliers.
You’ll Need
Essential
- Hold or be eligible for a Baseline AGSVA Security Clearance (must hold Australian Citizenship).
- Degree qualifications in Engineering, Information Management, or related discipline with demonstrated application to Defence industry.
- 10+ years’ IPS/ILS experience leading Technical Data programs, including IPS elements integration.
- Proven ASDEFCON experience: SOWs, CDRLs, Technical Data Plans, delivery of compliant artefacts.
- Expertise in S1000D/IETP development and assurance, including DEF(AUST) IPSâ5630 and business rules
- Hands-on governance of PLM/IDE, data models, metadata and re-use across lifecycle phases.
- Familiarity with Configuration Management standards and practices (e.g., EIAâ649, CM audits, status accounting) to maintain digital continuity and traceability.
